Limo Alert For Summer Ball Season School Proms Warnings about the potential dangers of unlicensed limos are being sent to schools across Surrey Heath. The alert is to coincide with prom nights and summer balls being held by many schools and colleges. People who hire stretch limousines or novelty vehicles are urged to check licensing details with the council. "It's important that anyone hiring a stretched limousine has a memorable day for all the right reasons," council licensing officer Jessica Harris said. Safety checks She added: "Passengers could be risking their lives in dangerous vehicles. "By double-checking the licensing details with us, the hirer can have peace of mind that the vehicle is roadworthy and fully licensed, the driver has been police-checked and it's fully insured." Party-goers are being warned that if an unlicensed vehicle is hired, they could end up in an uninsured car which might not have had legally-required safety checks. Residents should ask the hire company for the vehicle licence plate number which they can then check with the licensing service, the council said. http://www.cheaptaxi.co.uk/news/2009/07/02/limo-alert-for-summer-ball-season-2.html |
